Palm Sunday

Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

Hosanna in the highest heaven!"(Matthew 21:9, NIV)

My education during elementary school was taught at a parochial church. The children at our school and Sunday school would learn a song or a hymn to sing during Palm Sunday service, and lay a palm branch at the foot of the cross that sat next to the alter. I knew what this process symbolized when I was younger, but now that I'm older, there's a new appreciation for this celebration. COVID-19 obstacle provides an even greater perspective of my faith and hope in Christ.

Today, we didn't enter a church full of brightness and hope. We didn't have on our Sunday best, sit in a pew, and wait for the children to walk up to the cross and lay them at the foot of the cross. In fact, we are still in our pajamas and I am STILL trying to finish watching our church service on youtube.

It's humbling to reflect on Holy Week during this pandemic. So much fear and uncertainty can cause anxiety, anger, and sadness-even a mixture of all 3. Today's church service provided some much needed comfort and restored faith and trust in God today. Philippians 4:7 says, "And the peace of God,which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

How amazing is that message? Tell him all of our fears and worries, and he'll take care of us? Palm Sunday is a perfect example of just how well God took care of us. He sent his son to us, who rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, knowing what would happen to him in just a few days. Jesus knew what difficult situations he would face, but how important the results would be. He died for us and only asks that we trust and believe.

Trust in God as he provides doctors, nurses, government officials, and each of us with the knowledge and tools to navigate and conquer this- just like we trust that Jesus conquered sin and death.
